To make disciples, was the urgent command to the apostles before Jesus ascended to Heaven. This is a noble calling for all Christians, yet the reality is what we hope to see happen around the world, falls short in our own homes. Parents have opted in to outsourcing their children’s discipleship to the church. The resulting trend has been that as soon as they leave home, they leave Jesus. Its not enough to leave Jesus at church. For parents to effectively disciple their children, they need to take up the noble calling of forming faith at home.

What happens when a child imprints, not on Minecraft, but in the personnel playing Minecraft? Not on music, but the artist who makes the music? Not only comedy, the comedian. Not in teaching, the teacher?
We set examples. Whether we are aware of the example we set or not is another thing entirely. The fact is, how our lives are lived set an expectation for those who are watching.
The need for following Jesus Written resource, personal investment (mentors/mentees), Filling the gap. How do I teach my kids to pray when I can barely pray on my own? How can I teach my children the bible when I barely know how to read it? The church is here to fill in the gap.
The role of being a discipler is broader than just under your roof. You have the god-given ability to be spiritually influential to your grandchildren, your nieces and nephews, and even the friends of your children.
Most parents in the church desire their children to follow Jesus. Here is the thing - many parents have never truly acknowledged that desire, whether spoken or written. You will never know how to get to a place you aren’t aiming for. Discipleship cannot merely be well wishes. It must be practical guidance toward a clear purpose.
